Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

I drilled holes in the tabs on the back of the mirror and used zipties. I meant to take a photo, but haven't done it yet.

One more question about the mirror.

What did you use to keep it on the bar securely?

Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

This is the only picture I could find, but you can see the way I positioned the mirror. I'm sorry about the size, I haven't learned how to get around the KB limit like others have done.

Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

Thanks for the pic.

Just wanted to make sure and have it secure so it would not come off and threw the prop.

I will check walmart and the parts store today.

Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

Why, your prop handled a baseball cap fine!!

It has four tabs. Drill holes in each of them, just slightly bigger than the ziptie needs. Since the tabs are offset, you should use four zipties. I guess you could safety wire it, but there's no pressure on the mirror, so I don't think you have to worry.

Also, I'm a little concerned about how it will fit if you're putting it on the Airwolf. The bar is curved where it's straight on the older planes.

BTW - If you want some more photos, I'll take them.

if you're mounting a mirror and you have the tiller, why not mount it like I did on the tiller. I am using 2 saddles with an AN-4 bolt (top & bottom of the tiller tube) and it looks like a factory job. Like you see in my Avatar, though in that I may still be using a clamp around the tube.

Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

Not that kind of mirror Phil. It's the rear-view mirror I use to see my passengers and my chute when it's laid out. It was a big hit when I went to Blum the other day!

Re: Short Flight - Using the Mirror

My first kid was born last October..she has not been up in my plane yet but seeing this type of stuff makes me get choked up. Thanks so much for sharing. I was 30 when she was born and have to say it's changed my life for So much the better. I can only hope she'll be into Aviation as much as I have.
